82 imagesMusic in support of bereaved families, sponsored by Jean-Phillipe Fanfant. Music has always played a very important role in the army. For a long time, it was the bugle call to get up, the bugle call to go to soup... On November 11, 1918, it was the bugle that announced the ceasefire. Music is part of military culture. The air force, the Bagad de Lann-Bihoué, the Foreign Legion, the Paris fire department, the artillery, the alpine hunters... In all, 300 musicians performed surprising choreographies against a backdrop of drums, brass, bagpipes, electric guitars, drums... “Tiens voila du boudin” to a rap tune, or the Air Force playing ‘Star Wars’... “Miley Cyrus' Flowers played by the Paris fire department... A real 2h30 “son et lumière” show. “Les Musicales Solidaires” supports Bleuet de France, which works to help victims of terrorism, wards of the nation, war wounded and their families, and bereaved families. Jean-Phillipe Fanfant To collaborate with new artists such as Angélique Kidjo, Christophe Maé, Bernard Lavilliers, Sting, Julien Clerc... He has also taken part in La Nouvelle Star and The Voice.

26 imagesThe Army Reclaims One of Its Artillery Brigades An artillery brigade has just been reestablished within the Army. The 19th artillery brigade has just been reborn in Lyon, in the presence of General Mistral, military governor of Lyon, general officer of the south-east defence and security zone and commander of the south-east land zone. This is more of a rebirth than a new creation for this unit, which was originally established 30 years ago, partly drawing from the 54th Artillery Regiment, before being disbanded in 1998. A quarter of a century later, the modernized version retains the 54th Artillery Regiment and incorporates the 1st and 61st Artillery Regiments, as well as the Drone School. Operating in-depth, the 19th Artillery Brigade will be the only one to deploy Patroller tactical drones and the successor to the Unitary Rocket Launcher, expected by 2027. It will report to the future Command for Deep Action and Intelligence (CAPR). Since August 1st, the development of this CAPR has been under the leadership of Brigadier General Claude-Alexandre Pingeon. The integration of artillery and intelligence units was already visible during the recent Bastille Day military parade on July 14th, where the commander of the 1st Artillery Regiment and his color guard symbolically marched down the Champs-Élysées alongside the Intelligence Command (COMRENS) formation. The 19th Artillery Brigade of the Rapid Action Force was first created on September 1, 1993, in Maisons-Laffitte. • In 1994, the brigade reinforced detachments in support of Operation Turquoise in Rwanda and Zaire. • In 1995, it supported the Rapid Reaction Force, deployed in support of the UNPROFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina. • In 1996, a mixed detachment formed the 420th Mechanized Infantry Division (DIM) for the UNIFIL mission in Southern Lebanon and was deployed during Operation Grapes of Wrath, conducted by Israeli forces. As part of the professionalization of the Army, the 19th Artillery Brigade was disbanded on June 30, 1998, with its regiments transferred to the Artillery Brigade under the Land Forces Command.

He is the general officer of the south-east defence and security zone, commander of the south-east land zone. The military governor is commander of the Lyon garrison and its representative to the prefect. "I am taking up my post in a geopolitical context that presents us with a number of challenges. The Military Governor of Lyon is the commander of the Lyon garrison and represents the armed forces in Lyon towards the highest levels of government. 145 imagesOn the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Army divers, the Military Engineering troops present the first nautical shooting range, unique in France, allowing to train shooting from a wet surface. The interest for diving specialists is to be able to train shooting from wet surfaces after infiltration, (immersed under oxygen, in a kayak or small boat). It also allows divers to train for a change of environment, i.e. to go from water to land, while being in combat action since the shooting range offers a course going into the forest after targets placed on the bank.

24 imagesDeployment of tactical vehicles, which will travel by rail to Estonia, to be deployed within the Lynx operational mission on the Tapa military camp, with the 13th Demi-brigade of the Foreign Legion. The new French inter-army sub-battlegroup engaged on the East Flank in Estonia will be equipped with the most modern and efficient means, in the continuity of the mechanized and armored battalion of the Aigle mission in Romania. Griffon combat vehicles, multipurpose logistics carriers, small protected vehicles and other equipment have been loaded at the Valbonne loading dock. This logistical movement is coordinated by the EC National Contingent Command (PC NCC) based in Lille. This command post is responsible for coordinating the logistical movement, thus ensuring end-to-end projection autonomy in Europe. This deployment, and especially that of the Griffons, as part of the Lynx operational mission integrated into the Battle Group of the Enhanced Forward Presence under British command in Estonia, demonstrates France's strategic solidarity with its NATO partners. The eFP is proof of the determination of Allied military forces to repel any attack or incursion on Alliance territory. The eFP also illustrates NATO's political and military credibility and the high level of interoperability of its members. During 2022, France assumed command of the NATO Response Force (NRF). Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, the French armed forces have been participating in the reinforcement of the Atlantic Alliance's dissuasive and defensive posture on the eastern flank of Europe. This major effort involves reassuring our partners on NATO's borders, reinforcing our committed assets and projecting new capabilities. French armies have been deployed continuously to the eFP mission since March 2017. This commitment demonstrates France's solidarity with its Baltic partners and more broadly its reliability and credibility within NATO. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the President of the Republic decided to maintain French participation in the eFP BG in Estonia. On March 17, 2022, France deployed an infantry sub-group specialized in combat wear in difficult environments.

60 imagesThe EBRC Jaguar is the new French armored reconnaissance and combat vehicle presented during a test at Camp de Canjuers on February 09, 2022. The purchase of this vehicle is part of the Scorpion program intended to modernize the army cavalry. It is a new generation six-wheel drive armored reconnaissance vehicle intended to integrate into combat in urban or mountainous areas. The Jaguar's T40 turret carries two MMP-type missiles in a retractable launcher, with two more munitions available in the hold. It is equipped with a 40mm CTAS cannon and a 7.62mm machine gun. The turret can aim the gun up to a 45 degree angle to deal with high targets The Jaguar benefits from state-of-the-art technology in terms of equipment. It is equipped with recent self-protection systems such as laser warning detectors, missile start detectors, firing start detectors and radio jammer. It also protects against mines and improvised explosive devices. Twenty vehicles have been delivered with the expectation of being combat-ready in 2023, and 300 vehicles are expected to be delivered by 2030. The Ministry of Defense has awarded its development to Nexter, Thales, and Arquus

327 images"Honor and Loyalty" it is the legionnaire's motto. He never abandons his own. IILE, the last sanctuary for old legionnaires. Unique in the world “The creation of the Institution of the Invalids of the Foreign Legion is a beautiful dream cherished by all those who not only commanded the Legion, but above all loved it; all those who have understood in its humblest and most secret wheels, the specific mentality of the legionnaire who, in happiness as in misfortune, needs to feel at home” , was to declare the General Koenig, during the inauguration in May 2, 1954.
