The Banque Alimentaire is organizing its annual food drive from November 24 to 26.
The Banque Alimentaire du Rhone is the largest food bank in France, with its
2,500 m2 of warehouse space, 750 m2 of refrigerated area, 600 m2 of service premises. In 2020, the Rhone Food Bank distributed the equivalent of 11 million meals to people in need, an average of 30,000 meals a day all year round.
The 79 French Food Banks collect, manage and share foodstuffs to help mankind restore itself, as defined by the charter of the French Federation of Food Banks.
They are supplied by several sources: the "pickings" made by volunteers from unsold supermarket produce, food companies, small and large producers, the State through the CNES (Credit National pour les Epiceries Sociales), Europe through the FEAD and the Collecte Nationale.
They need food donations this weekend.
