Give rather than throw.
Lyon Metropole has started "donneries" in 9 waste disposal departments .
Already well established since a few years in Belgium, this concept has just started in France, in Lyon.
All the objects deposited in the donneries are put back to associations of the voluntary and solidary sector, such as Emmaus.
As soon as they arrive at the waste disposal department, a check-in agent is responsible for guiding and informing the users about the potential beneficiaries of the objects they deposit.
After having repaired them, if need be, these structures give the objects to the people in trouble or sell them to private individuals. This allows them to benefit from a financial resource for their other solidarity-based activities.
