Marion Marechal at a meeting against "the great replacement".
As part of the European election campaign, Marion Marechal, head of the "Reconquete!" list, was at a meeting in Charvieu-Chavagneux on Wednesday 3 April, accompanied by Guillaume Peltier, executive vice-president of Eric Zemmour's political party Reconquete.
The Reconquete! candidate, who is stabilising at 6% of voting intentions in the polls, a long way behind the RN, was welcomed as a guest star by around 900 spectators.
A handful of LFI activists did attempt to form a welcoming committee to the rhythm of anti-fascist chants. But there were too few of them and they were surrounded by the police, so they were unable to make their presence felt.
At her press conference just before the meeting, Marion Marechal set the tone for the evening: it would be Islamophobic.
The central issue is whether we want a continent of European culture with Christian roots or whether we accept the great cultural replacement and a Europe that will become Muslim," she said. Our vital challenge is to prevent the Islamisation of Europe.
