Luz Cazal is considered one of Spain's finest popular music soloists.
After successes in her home country in the 1980s, she achieved international fame, especially in France, after two of her songs were included in Pedro Almodóvar's film Talons aiguilles.
In 2007, sales of her records exceeded five million copies.
Luz underwent surgery for breast cancer and announced on her website that she had beaten the disease, offering the first single, "Se feliz", from her new album, "Vida toxica", a reference to the chemotherapy she received during her cancer treatment.
