Jesus Mendez was born into one of the most important sagas of flamenco singers in Jerez, the flagship of which was La Paquera de Jerez. He began his career at the age of seventeen, when he decided to try his luck on stage. Since his debut in 2002, the young cantaor from Jerez has worked with artists of the calibre of Moraiíto Chico, El Guito, Rocio Molina, Alejandro Granados, Maria del Mar Moreno and Carmen Cortes, among others.
A fervent defender of the songs of La Plazuela and identified with the buleria and soles, his artistic development has been quantitative in recent years.
Together with the celebrated guitarist Gerardo Nunez, Jesus Méndez has travelled the world, from Asia to Europe, via Africa and America, from New York to Beijing and from Antwerp to Chicago. He has shared the stage with celebrities such as Moraíto Chico, and above all with bailaora Mercedes Ruiz, with whom he perfected the cante de atrás. In 2008, he released his first album, 'Jerez Sin Fronteras', a work sponsored by Gerardo Nunez's Gallo Azul label, with the collaboration of Moraito, Diego del Morao and Santiago Lara.
He presented his second album, 'Anoranza', at the Seville Flamenco Biennial in Jerez, accompanied by guest artists El Torta, Miguel Poveda and Manuela Mendez.
