  • Saint Peter is a concrete building in the commune of Firminy, France. The last major work of French Swiss-born architect Le Corbusier, it was completed in 2006, 41 years after his death.<br />
Designed to be a church in the model city of Firminy Vert, the construction of Saint-Pierre was begun in 1971, six years after Le Corbusier's death in 1965. Due to local political conflicts it remained stalled from 1975 to 2003, when the local government declared the mouldering concrete ruin an "architectural heritage" and financed its completion. It has been used for many different purposes, as a secondary school and as a shelter. As the laicist French state may not use public funds for religious buildings, Saint-Pierre is now used as a cultural venue.<br />
The building was completed by French architect José Oubrerie, Le Corbusier's student for many years.<br />
<br />

  • In resonance with the Lyon Biennial, the contemporary art center of the Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois welcomes Mengzhi Zheng.<br />
Arrived in Paris at the age of seven, he nourished himself from a childhood between his two cultures and became an artist. A resident of Lyon since 2012, this invitation is the perfect opportunity to discuss his work - with a contemporary eye - on issues of space and habitat, which has been driving him since a return trip to Ruian in 2008. Through drawings and volumes, the artist will invoke a large central sculpture imagined for this exhibition time. Frail skiffs on a table - Abandoned Models - and drawings on walls will complete his spatial approach of the place.

  • ROME, ITALY - JUNE 03: Illustration of Rome; Italy on June 03, 2012..The treasures of the Vatican. The Round Room..Round Room, built by Michelangelo Simonetti in the late 18th century in a pure Neo-classical style. The dome is actually modelled on the Pantheon and has a diameter of 21.60 metres. A huge round monolithic porphyry basin stands in the middle of the room: it measures almost five metres across, comes from the Domus Aurea and was brought here in the late 18th century. A 2nd century Hercules in gilded bronze found near the Theatre of Pompey and a 3rd century mosaic from the Baths of Otricoli (region Umbria) are also fascinating.

  • New-York City, Madison Square.Echo.<br />
Peeking through the blooming dogwoods in Madison Square Park is 44-foot-high white statue of a head. The sculpture, created by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, is made of fiberglass resin and is modeled after the Greek myth of Echo. <br />
<br />
The statue, called "Echo," wears a serene expression on its face and seems to be a magnet for tots and camera phones. Children played around the statue on Thursday while nearly every passerby on his or her lunch break stopped to snap a photo. <br />
<br />
"Even the people who live here love it," said neighborhood resident Lisa Hin. She said that during the three-day installation process, she had noticed people escaping the office to snap photos and lunch near the statue.

  • In resonance with the Lyon Biennial, the contemporary art center of the Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois welcomes Mengzhi Zheng. <br />
